It is a common misconception that therapy is only for people who are suffering from a serious mental disorder or condition. It is this belief that can lend an aura of taboo towards the subjects of counseling or therapy.
While psychotherapy is a very effective way to deal with mental disorders and forms a significant part of a patient’s treatment plan, it is becoming more common and more socially acceptable for individuals to seek out the services of a mental health professional for a number of non-mental disorder related issues such as:
- Learning how to cope with the traumatic experience of the past, that are buried in our unconscious but still affect us on the daily basis.
- Learning how to resolve conflicts successfully, including our internal conflicts that create blockages and do not allow us to advance in our lives.
- Learning how to cope with a significant life event such as losing employment, a death in the family, the end of a relationship, the birth of a child, moving to a different city or country, etc.
- Learning how to relieve stress and anxiety;
- Learning how to be more confident or gain a better understanding of one’s self.
In short, therapy is not just for mental illnesses, and the dozens of different types of psychotherapy options are a testament to that. We are lucky to live in a time when awareness surrounding mental health is increasing, so there is help for almost anything you are struggling to overcome alone and by yourself.
In my practice I use an integrated approach that combines various aspects of the aforementioned therapeutic approaches. I customize the approach based on the client’s needs and preferences.
In clinical practice, the choice of the most effective psychotherapy for each particular issue is complicated by the existence of over 400 varieties of psychotherapy approaches that are defined and classified according to their theoretical model (i.e., behavioral, systemic, cognitive, psychodynamic, etc.)
I use both behavioral cognitive and psychodynamic approaches, applying them in a flexible and integrative way for the best therapeutic result. My style of therapy is goal oriented, time sensitive and highly interactive and collaborative. My patients are required to actively participate, homework assignment, and , equally importantly, faith in the process. I believe that healing has a beginning and an end and my goal and the purpose is to bring my client to the end of it, to the moment when they would be able to say:” I am done healing. I am healed. It is time for me to start Living”.
“Getting healed “is not a guarantee that the future won’t bring in another trauma: So, my additional task is to teach my client to use certain mechanisms, techniques that would allow them to cope with further possible difficulties independently and autonomously.
So, contact me if you are ready to start the course towards a happier, simpler life.
I like to use additional mindfulness-based practices to increase personal awareness, cultivate compassion, build resiliency and help you to stay grounded in the present moment.
With compassion and understanding, I work with you to help build on your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to achieving.
I look forward to working with you!
My best regards.
Love and Light.
